Preparations Underway, Daytona Inching Closer
January 20, 2010

In keeping up with the 2010 racing season preparations, Justin Lofton returned home from his two-day test session at New Smyrna Speedway last Thursday and promptly participated in a media interview. The two-day stretch set the pace for this week as well, with the 23-year-old racer keeping busy as he readies for his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut in less than three weeks behind the wheel of his No. 7 Toyota Tundra in the NextEra Energy 250 at Daytona International Speedway.

With the season inching closer and his schedule filling up, Lofton continued the trend on Sunday, as he attended the National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA) convention where he was introduced to the attending motorsports media members along with fellow NASCAR rookie drivers spanning Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Truck Series competition.

Lofton will be racing head-to-head against Richard Childress Racing’s Austin Dillon for the Raybestos Rookie of The Year honors within the NCWTS.

Following the luncheon, Lofton spent the early portion of the week with his race team at the Red Horse Racing shop and ironing out his vision for the season.

On Wednesday, Lofton’s schedule consists of a full day of media activities and a photo shoot for manufacturer Toyota. With Thursday left as a breather for personal business, Lofton will be back at it on Friday, appearing at the Charlotte Checkers’ Fourth Annual Race Night. Lofton, who plays an occasional game of hockey himself, will be signing autographs prior to the start of the match up on the ice for 45 minutes beginning at 6 PM EST. Fans interested in attending the event in order to meet the Truck Series rookie can still get tickets via the gocheckers.com website.
