Built Ford Tough 225
Last time out… Lofton and crew chief Mark Rette continued to ride their momentum into Chicago last weekend, running top-10 speeds throughout practice, qualifying tenth, and finishing fifth. Lofton ran up front for most of the race, with Rette also utilitizing a two-tire stop late in the running to cushion their position near the front. The call paid off, with Lofton claiming his second consecutive top-five run. The team has collected three top-fives in the last five races, and four top-10s.
Moving on up… Lofton’s fifth place effort moved him two positions in the point standings, from 12th to 10th. It is the first time this season that Lofton has been within the top-10 in the point standings. The No. 7 RHR team sit 13th overall in the owner point standings.
Consistency in Kentucky… Lofton has a solid history on the 1.5-mile track at Kentucky. He visited the Cincinnati area track twice in 2009 during ARCA Racing Series competition, with solid results to his credit. In the spring event, he started second and finished second. For the tour’s return run last July he started fifth and finished third. more…
